Karen Schubert co-founded Lit Youngstown in 2015 with Liz Hill. She holds a BA in professional writing & editing and an MA in English from Youngstown State University and an MFA in creative writing from the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts (Cleveland State University). She is the author of six books of poetry, including "I Left My Wings on a Chair," a Wick Poetry Center chapbook winner (Kent State University Press). She has taught in numerous academic and community settings, and her awards include an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award and residencies at Headlands Center for the Arts and Vermont Studio Center.
